The Story of Us...Biblical Home
Share
There wasn’t a dry eye in the courtroom that rainy Tuesday afternoon in 2010. Bitter tears streamed in a courtroom of fifty of our closest friends and family. Black is what many chose to wear. At this celebration of life. Skip 14 years later we tell our children it was the day our family became INDEPENDENT. Two souls united. You see, I am describing our wedding day.
Ricardo and I have always been a bit “unusual”. Unicorn is what one beloved family member openly called us in front of many couples at a birthday party. Any “normal” human being would be hurt by this type of description. And perhaps it was not the most delightful name we were called, but somehow, we already knew we are “unicorns”. And, if you struggle with that term I can bluntly say. We know we are different. Who else would take joy in marrying your best friend at the young age of 19? Who else would have four kids and say they would love so many more? Who else would want to spend all day with their kids, and taking on the challenge of homeschooling? Who else would wholeheartedly say they want to lead A Biblical Home. Ahhh yessss, us. Want to join?
Now, to be clear, I would be lying to you if I said a biblical home means you must marry young, have a lot of children, homeschool them, and never let them leave your sight. A biblical home doesn’t fit a single mold otherwise that would be cultish.
What is a biblical home you ask? Or maybe you didn’t, but I (Arlene) am going to tell you, because that is the kind of human being I am. (Insert Celtic music here) A biblical home. Ah the ring of that. A Biblical Home is one that makes the triune God the center of their home as per God’s word has instructed. It means in your home you Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind. Whew I love love love that Scripture does not say that we are to perfectly follow God’s rules with all our heart soul and mind. It states to love Him! And how must we do that? How do we love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul and mind? Simply put we can’t only Jesus was able to fulfill this command completely, but oh my goodness there is HOPE we have the precious, holy, inerrant, all sufficient word of God. Ricardo and I are in love with His Word. We can’t get enough of it.
The word of God tells us in Deuteronomy 6 that we are called to train our children in the way they should go, so that when they grow old, they won’t depart from it. Then Moses instructs that we should talk about the law of God when you walk by the way, when you rise up and when you lie down. He then states, you should write these things on the door posts of your house and on your gates. Stop there, I know Moses is not exactly saying (old man voice) “write it all over your house”. But this is what I envision. I picture scripture verses everywhere in my home fulfilling this commandment. Scripture being all over my home is a beautiful way to meditate on the word of God. A Biblical Home is also inspired by Philippians 4:8 Whatever is lovely, what every is praiseworthy meditate on these things that’s a shortened paraphrased version of course. But I pray you are starting to see a pattern. Our homes are so decorated with beautiful mantras like Bee kind, and in this home, we love and serve, you know that kind of thing and please don’t hear me say or write that is wrong. But, how much more beautiful, more lovely more praiseworthy would it be to have Scripture to be all over our home? When we wash our clothes it’s on our laundry detergent. It’s in our bathrooms and on our bedroom walls. That is my desire to help you have your home filled with Scripture. With every purchase you help fund our ministry which is to bring the message of the gospel to the world. But, I know times are hard, boy do I know Ricardo and I live off of a single income in a very expensive county it is difficult to make certain purchases. We would love for you to sign up to our email list and we will send you fantastic ideas do make simple DIY decorations in your home without you paying a dime. All that is needed is a heart that is willing to make Christ the center of your home.
With that I say, Welcome to A Biblical Home.
